Introduction

The establishment of Gilan University was approved by the Council for the Development of Higher Education in 1353(1974). In the years 1354-1355(1975-1976), within the framework of the agreement between the governments of Iran and the former West Germany, this university was established and since 1356(1977), it has started its educational activities by accepting 155 students in 9 fields of study. started. In 1356(1977), Rasht Higher School of Management and Higher School of Commerce (founded in 1346(1967)), which were the only higher education centers in Gilan province, merged with Gilan University and its educational activities continued until the end of the academic year 1358(1979) with a number of 605 students in 14 fields of study.

After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, this university independently and without dependence on Germany, resumed its educational activities in 8 fields of study with about 500 students and with the growth and expansion of higher education in the country, faculties of basic sciences, technical sciences, agricultural sciences, they received. Humanities and medicine were built, and then the faculties of physical education and sports sciences, faculties of natural resources, architecture and art were built.

Currently, 16,229 students and 883 professors are working in this center. Based on the analysis, this center has published 18,089 scientific articles in domestic journals and conferences.
