Introduction

Until 1989, the Health and Treatment Organization was responsible for the province’s health. In 1990, the Nursing and Midwifery University was established, starting with the admission of 14 nursing students in a rented building on Pasdaran Street in Ilam. In 1995, with the admission of doctoral students in general medicine and the addition of three schools of health, physiotherapy, and medical sciences to the university, Ilam University was promoted. In 2006, due to its scientific and research activities and the promotion of the School of Health and Physiotherapy to a faculty, the university was upgraded from Type 3 to Type 2 and became Ilam University of Medical Sciences.

Currently, 3826 students and 174 professors are actively engaged in this center. According to the conducted analyses, this center has published 1017 scientific articles in domestic journals and conferences. Ilam University of Medical Sciences owns and publishes two specialized journals, and so far, 8 conferences have been organized by Ilam University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. In addition, three reputable international articles have been extracted from this center.In the field of health and medical care, this university currently provides services to the people of Ilam province with 197 health houses, 29 rural health and treatment centers, 33 urban health and treatment centers, and 39 urban health bases.
