Introduction
Urmia Public University of Medical Sciences [under the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education] is the oldest university of modern medical sciences in Iran in the city of Urmia. This center started its activity in 1978 as one of the educational units of Urmia University. Currently, 4376 students and 313 professors are working in Urmia University of Medical Sciences.
Based on the research done, they have published 611 scientific articles in domestic publications and congress [of which 195 journal articles and 416 conference articles] and 3786 internationally valid articles. This university is the owner and publisher of 2 specialized magazines.

- One of the honors of Urmia University of Medical Sciences is the kidney transplant surgery that was done at this University. In terms of history, after Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, the kidney transplant department of Urmia University of Medical Sciences is the first kidney transplant center in Iran, which started its official activity in 1998.

Kausar Dormitory: This dormitory is one of the Females’ dormitories that started to be built in 2009 and was put into operation in 2012. The area of the dormitory is 4800 square meters and its basement is 4400 square meters. The facilities inside the dormitory include a prayer room, reading room, library, gym, TV room, green space, computer room, consultation room, guest room, and ironing room.
Golestan Dormitory: This dormitory is one of the females’ dormitories in the Hazrat Fatemeh (a.s.) dormitory complex, which was built in 1990 and was put into operation in 2009. The area of the dormitory is 9,000 and its foundation is 5,000 square meters. This dormitory has facilities such as a grocery store, prayer room, study hall, library, cultural center, sports hall, TV hall, green space, and computer room.
Bostan Dormitory: This dormitory is one of the females ‘ dormitories in the Hazrat Fatimah (AS) dormitory complex, which was started in 1994 and was put into operation in 1995. The area of the dormitory is 11,000 and its foundation is 6,300 square meters. The facilities inside the dormitory include a grocery store, prayer hall, study hall, library, cultural center, sports hall, TV hall, green space, Basij office, Quran center, public meeting room, and computer room.
Shahid Qolipur Dormitory: This is one of the males’ dormitories located on Selmas Road, Shahid Qolipur Street, next to the Food and Drug Administration, which was put into operation in 2008. The area of the dormitory is 3500 and its foundation is 3500 with facilities such as prayer room, study hall, library, cultural center, sports hall, TV hall, green space, and computer room.
Shahid Gomnam Dormitory: This dormitory is one of the male dormitories of Urmia University of Medical Sciences, which was built in 2009 and was put into operation in 2013. The area of this dormitory is 6400 and its infrastructure is 6400 square meters. This dormitory has facilities such as a refrigerator, television, heater, prayer room, sports hall, etc.
