Faculties
Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science
The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Damghan University initially started its activities as a part of the Mathematics Group of the Faculty of Basic Sciences in Damghan in 1994, admitting students in the fields of Applied Mathematics and Mathematics Education. In 1999, the first pure mathematics students were admitted to this institution and began their studies. This faculty consists of 1 professor, 6 associate professors, 17 assistant professors, and 2 instructors.
The Faculty of Biology
The Faculty of Biology, as one of the oldest faculties at Damghan University, officially began its educational and research activities in February 2007 in the fields of Plant Sciences, General Biology, and Cellular and Molecular Biology.
Faculty of Chemistry
The Chemistry Department at Damghan University started its activities in 1994 by admitting the first batch of undergraduate students in pure chemistry. Currently, the Faculty of Chemistry offers two specializations in pure chemistry and applied chemistry at the undergraduate level. The faculty consists of 9 assistant professors, 10 associate professors, and 4 professors.
The Faculty of Earth Sciences
The Faculty of Earth Sciences, as the first academic department of the university, began its activities in 1992 by admitting 35 students under the name of the Geology Department, specializing in pure geology. In 2008, the Applied Geology specialization was added to the programs of the Faculty of Earth Sciences. In 2012, with the completion of admissions for Applied Geology students, the first batch of students in Geomorphology were accepted and began their studies at this faculty. Currently, this faculty consists of one assistant professor, three associate professors, 230 undergraduate students, and 35 master’s students.
Faculty of Engineering
With the approval of the Office of Higher Education Development, Damghan University of Basic Sciences has taken shaped as a comprehensive institution since the beginning of 2010, and the university has been granted permission to establish the Faculty of Technical and Engineering. In this regard, the Office of Higher Education Development has granted permission to establish the fields of Software Engineering and Industrial Engineering at the university, considering the existing potentials. From the second semester of the academic year 2010-2011, the university has been accepting students in the fields of Software Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Currently, this faculty has 5 associate professors, 23 assistant professors, and 5 instructors.
The Physics Department
The Physics Department started its educational activities in Mehr month of 1375 (September/October 1996). The Faculty of Arts at Damghan University began its educational activities in Bahman month of 1390 (February 2012) by accepting students in two fields: Television and Digital Arts, and Performing Literature. This department has 9 workshops, including Photography Workshop, 2 Theater Workshops, Graphic Design Workshop, 2D Animation Workshop, Computer Graphics Workshop, Puppet Animation Workshop, General Design Workshop, and Animation Design Workshop.
