Civil development of the university
On the 6th of March 2015, Urmia University of Technology officially started its activities on a land of 2 hectares, 2.5 km from Urmia city, at the beginning of Band road and next to Shahrchai river. The existing building with an area of about 2000 square meters was previously built by the regional water organization of the province under the name of “Snow and Ice” studies and research building. The increase in students and the urgent need for educational and administrative spaces prompted the university officials to start the construction of the first faculty in September 2006.
The first phase of the Faculty of Petrochemical Engineering on a land of 900 square meters with an infrastructure of 2500 square meters was put into operation in October 2007. There was a need for a study hall and a computer site equipped with computers. Simultaneously with the construction of the first phase of the Faculty of Petrochemical Engineering, the foundation of the development plan for the administrative building was laid by the honorable governor in May 2007, which was built with a very beautiful design by experienced contractors and with an area of 850 square meters. The increase in student enrollment led to the construction of the second phase of the Faculty of Petrochemical Engineering in April 2008. This project, while connecting to the central building and the first phase of the Faculty of Petrochemical Engineering, created a single building with unique features.
University Industry Liaison Office
The University Industry Liaison Office was established with the aim of increasing the scientific and executive ability of students in technical and engineering fields, as well as meeting scientific-industrial needs and creating a constructive and targeted interaction between industrialists and academics.
Currently, this office makes a double effort to improve the knowledge and industry of our beloved country Iran by holding internship courses for students and coordinating scientific visits to industrial units and communicating with various industries in the field of industrial-research projects. The University Industry Liaison Office, while signing a cooperation agreement with the Development and Modernization and New Industries Organization of the Ministry of Industries and Mines, has taken effective steps to implement the industry-university relationship and plans to implement national and regional plans with the aforementioned ministry.
