The International University of Islamic Denominations, a university affiliated with the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, which was founded to teach Islamic jurisprudence and law comparatively by the direct order of Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Republic. According to the resolution of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution in 2022 regarding the amendment of the university’s statute, the term ‘non-profit’ was removed from the university’s title, and the word ‘international’ was added after the university’s name. Moreover, based on this resolution, the establishment of branches and centers outside the country will be possible.
Introduction
The University of Islamic Denominations is a public university affiliated with the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, located in Tehran, Tehran Province. The center was established in 1992 to train Muslim scholars and researchers and prepare religious missionaries for both domestic and international purposes across various Islamic sects. The University of Islamic Denominations is the only university that offers comparative law and jurisprudence programs, hosting students from all Islamic sects and other countries.
Currently, the center includes four university units across the country, with more than 2,500 students studying there and 200 professors and faculty members engaged in academic activities. To date, 159 domestic scientific articles and ISI articles have been published from this center in national and international journals and conferences.
At the University of Islamic Denominations, individuals from different Islamic sects study alongside each other. This university in line with its primary goal, has facilitated discussions among scholars and religious teachers based on their respective sects, enabling them to resolve religious and sectarian misunderstandings, thereby achieving Islamic unity and cohesion.
Educational Achievements
With the help of Almighty God and the continuous efforts of the officials, professors, and students, about 60% of this university’s graduates got accepted into postgraduate programs (master’s and doctoral) at universities and higher education institutions. Currently, they are employed and engaged in activities at higher education and research institutions or cultural and religious organizations.

University Facilities
To ensure proficiency in Arabic and English for undergraduate and graduate students, the university offers free remedial classes for them. Another advantage during undergraduate and graduate studies is that outstanding students from each academic program are awarded travel grants for academic research to one of the Islamic countries.
In the master’s and doctoral programs, those who have presented outstanding theses are awarded valuable prizes and will be allowed to publish their theses in the university’s publications.
Additionally, the university provides student dormitories, scholarships, or tuition loans according to the regulations of the Student Welfare Fund throughout their study period, as well as access to dormitory libraries, cafeterias, sports and recreational facilities, creating a safe and excellent environment for students.
