Introduction

Semnan University of Medical Sciences started its official activity as the first medical university in Semnan in 1367. Semnan University of Medical Sciences, based on the approval of the Council for the Development of Medical Sciences Universities of Iran, started its activity on 22 February 1367 by accepting 60 students in the field of medicine under the supervision of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

However, in a period of less than a year, with the approval of the Council for the Development of Medical Sciences Universities, Semnan Faculty of Medicine became Semnan University of Medical Sciences and has been operating since 1368 with the units of Semnan Faculty of Medicine, Semnan Faculty of Nursing and Paramedicine, Shahroud Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery. (which became a faculty in 1371 and became a University of Medical Sciences in 1389) and started Behiari Houshmand Damghan High School.

Also, a land of 300 hectares was provided for the construction of the comprehensive plan of the university. The medical school building with an area of ​​21,000 square meters, a sports hall with an area of ​​2,000 square meters, and a dormitory for 360 people with an area of ​​5,300 square meters has been put into operation.

Currently, 2756 students and 244 professors are working in this center. Based on the analysis, this center has published 1452 scientific articles in domestic journals and conferences and 650 ISI articles. Semnan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services is the owner and publisher. 1 is a specialized journal and so far 7 conferences have been organized by Semnan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. In addition, so far 650 international articles have been extracted from this center.

Facilities and Welfare

Dormitory: Dormitory facilities include beds and wardrobes for the number of residents, carpets, curtains, refrigerators, and shoe racks. It is the student’s responsibility to prepare and supply personal items, including sleeping items (blankets, sheets, mattresses, pillows). Facilities available in the public spaces of the dormitories: stove, TV, computer, and so on.

Currently, the university has 13 dormitory buildings, which are located in Semnan-Damghan-Sorkheh and Aradan, scattered throughout the city or concentrated in the university campus, one of which is the accommodation for married students, and 3 dormitories located in Aradan for the accommodation of female and male students. It is private (boarding) under the supervision of the university.

Central Library: The central library building with an area of ​​2034 square meters includes a reading room (595 square meters), a book depository, reference books, and theses section (132 square meters), internet sites for brothers and sisters (106 square meters), a seminar room (40 square meters) and office rooms (59 square meters). 

There are 6395 Persian book titles and 5375 Latin book titles, more than 20112 copies of Persian books and more than 7404 copies of Latin books in the fields of basic and clinical medical sciences, 2491 theses titles, 517 research projects, more than 623 visual sources – Latin and Farsi audio is engaged in providing library services to professors, students, and staff.
