Arak University of Medical Sciences is one of the public universities of Central Province in the country Iran is located in the city of Arak, this university, as one of the universities under the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, is responsible for providing services in Central Province, as well as conducting clinical medical research and training medical staff.
Introduction
In 1986, with the efforts and follow-up of the head of the Regional Health and Treatment Organization of Markazi Province, the representative of Arak in the Iranian Parliament at the time, and the support of the relevant authorities, permission was granted to establish Arak School of Medicine. In February 1988, the School of Medical Sciences began operating by merging the School of Medicine and the Nursing and Midwifery School, with academic support from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. It admitted 60 students in medicine and started its activities in a rented building.
It became independent in 1989, and in 1991, it was transformed into a university of medical sciences. In 1994, with the merger of the Regional Health and Treatment Organization, it became responsible for providing healthcare services in Markazi Province and was renamed Arak University of Medical Sciences and Health Services.
Currently, 3,471 students and 229 faculty members are active at this center. Based on analyses, this center has published 862 scientific articles in domestic journals and conferences. Arak University of Medical Sciences owns and publishes three specialized journals and has organized one conference so far.

Dormitories: The university and its students are considered pillars of the country’s scientific, cultural, and social development. Student dormitories, as students’ second homes, play a significant role in enhancing spiritual vitality, maintaining mental and physical well-being, fostering intellectual growth, shaping character, and improving students’ academic performance. In this regard, the Dormitory Office of Arak University of Medical Sciences strives to ensure, facilitate, and improve the quality of life in student dormitories while respecting individual and collective rights, strengthening responsibility and self-confidence, ensuring students’ safety, and more, all within the framework of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education’s regulations.
This university has five dormitories (three for male students and two for female students) and two dormitories under construction:

Nutrition: The Nutrition Office of Arak University of Medical Sciences is one of the most critical departments, responsible for managing, planning, and supervising kitchens and dining halls. Its duties include preparing, installing, launching, and repairing dining hall equipment, procuring raw food materials, and quantitatively and qualitatively controlling food items required for cooking and distributing approximately 3,000 meals breakfast lunch, and dinner daily and around 400,000 meals annually for students. The office prioritizes consumer preferences and tastes in the services it provides.
Welfare Unit: The Welfare and Student Cooperation Unit, part of the Student Affairs Management, aims to meet some of the student’s basic needs by utilizing the facilities provided by the Student Welfare Fund of the Ministry of Health and Arak University of Medical Sciences. The Welfare Unit acts as a bridge between the university and the Student Welfare Fund of the Ministry of Health. Some of the loans offered by this unit include educational assistance loans housing loans for married students living outside dormitories and marriage loans.
Physical Education: The Physical Education Office aims to enhance the quality and quantity of sports activities promote physical health and vitality and foster a sports culture among students. Its responsibilities include conducting Physical Education 1 and 2 courses organizing extracurricular activities facilitating participation in inter-university and national competitions and promoting both recreational and professional sports among all students.
